Beyond Requirements: Becoming the BA that Everyone Wants on Their Project

12h00 - 12h50 Mark Bruins / Business Analyst Mentor at BA Masterminds
Mark Bruins - Business Analysis Summit 2026

Technical competence gets Business Analysts onto projects, but influence, credibility and authority determine whether they become trusted advisors or simply requirements writers.

This session explores the qualities that consistently distinguish highly sought-after Business Analysts from everyone else. Drawing on more than four decades in IT, and mentoring over 1,100 Business Analysts globally, Mark Bruins shares practical strategies that transform competent analysts into influential professionals who shape decisions, build executive confidence and become indispensable to organisations. Attendees will discover how to position themselves as strategic partners, communicate with greater authority, increase stakeholder trust and develop measurable business value that extends far beyond documenting requirements.

Key Takeaways

  • Learn how to position yourself as a trusted advisor rather than an order taker.
  • Discover practical techniques for building authority, credibility and influence with stakeholders at every level.
  • Apply proven strategies that increase your visibility, career opportunities and long-term impact as a Business Analyst.
